You should take your time and choose carefully when it comes to pet food. What you feed your pet is just as important as what you feed yourself or your kids. There is a lot of debate on what the best thing to feed animals is, and you should look into what people are saying.

The first rule of pet food should be a no-brainer. Buy food that is acceptable for your pet. An unfortunate number of people will feed animals the wrong thing, particularly if the animal is exotic. Ferrets are regularly fed cat food, which does not contain the proper nutrients and will cause them to grow fat and listless. Birds also are commonly deprived of dietary needs because their food lacks variety.

Look at the ingredients in your pet’s food. If the first thing on the list is some sort of by-product, you may want to rethink getting that type. We wouldn’t want to eat the junk parts of animals, so why do we ask our pets to? If you are in doubt about what kind of food to get, ask a couple vets for their recommendations.
